Last Rolling of Winter Wheat

Just finishing rolling a field , of winter wheat for my uncle.
The oat trees are four feet diameter and most likely acorns from the ancient forests.

September Storms

It was rainy earlier this week, just as the combine harvester returned to
start cutting the Spring Oil Seed ( rape)
I started this 2011 in Sept and spend 5 mins on it, I picked it up on Sunday and
just carried on,on top. Oil paint now seems to be my friend on this small scale.Responding to the light, sounds evangelical!

Nefyn Holiday

We went to Wales and stayed in this cottage, rented of a friend, its one of many
I have done since trying postage stamp 5x8 inch picture plains.
I used watercolours as oil paint.

Brill on linen.

One of my favourite locations.8x10 inches

Back to The Dryer

Here's one from last week, small again, much more texture, in oil.
I really must find some way of selling these  at auction, when they
are ready.
Please leave some tips if you know how.
I'm looking for comments so no lurking!

Brill from The Dryer Thame

I've painted this at least twelve times, the year before last using watercolor like oil paint ie opaque or transparent layers. This was today a very hot day, beside the shade tree, a horsechestnut,
which I have been using for shelter since 1986!
Oil on board 5x8 inchs
Ok, the painting that I published here needed rotating, so this is a photograph of the landscape
while the river was in flood early this year, acting in replacement.
In the fore ground left ,the shadow of the tree under which I shelter.

Here is the picture at last. I'll dig out the 2011 under painting.

From War Memorial. Thame

I have been so busy, this is a 3 x10 inch study on linen. I have a long way to go before, I should post this, but these in progress illustrations are sometimes great for comparing later.

Dragon School

Harvest time is nearly finished; with best motivations, weekly postings are best suited. This post features the landscape of Thame, from a gateway, on the Oxford Road in Thame. It is approx. 8" x 5" inchs. Oil on Board.
It is 100% inspired by Julian Merrow-Smith from The Shire(Oxford).
In fact this site is dedicated to his
"Postcard from Provance." and the Painting a Day Movement which for me,he is the Master; and I one of a band of followers;very well worth checking out.
Dragon School Oxford 1975, a year before I joined on:YouTube
I have been ever so pleased to be invited back to Oxford to visit the school the I attended 1976-1982.
A summers glory of an early evening
walk by the River Cherwell which runs through the grounds.

Thame Oxfordshire

Here's the picture I made in Thame high St. the other day, right out side the entrance to the Thame museum.Tom Newitt and his mother came out to look and asked questions, it was so good to see them,as I have known them since I was very small. Tom owns the smartest butchers shop for miles around and has won many awards.
